What to wear to engagement photos.

Engagement session Photographer in Florida

As a wedding photographer, I get asked this a lot, so I am so excited to share some tips to help you decide what to wear for your engagement photos.

  • Choose you! When considering if digging in your closet or going on a shopping spree, make sure you pick clothes that make you feel like you and that you would wear to a special occasion. Show your vibes and classic looks. Let your photos reflect your personality, and the places or activities that make you happy!

  • Coordinate instead of matching. Complementary solid colors, pastels or neutrals, and a print is an easy formula to consider. Avoid super busy prints, too many patterns, or vibrant colors, for they can get distracting and don't register too well on camera.
  • Comfort first. This is the main tip. Pick clothes that feel comfortable in because it shows and it will help you feel more relaxed. Make sure that you can hug freely too! My ideal engagement sessions have some fun and adventurous times, so make sure you can move and maybe run. lol
  • Bring your fur babies! Dogs are always welcomed and appreciated :)

  • Consider the season and weather. They are good indicators to determine what would be more fitting and even more fun! If you are having your engagement sessions in Florida, this is extra important because it gets hot and humid Extra tip: Consider light and breathable fabrics.
  • Add accessories, at least one. A hat, scarf, jacket, earrings, or necklaces are great additions, and they are easy to add. In case of doubt, please bring them to your photo session, and your fantastic photographer will be happy to help. Well, I always am!
  • Plan for two outfits. This tip is my recommendation. It is plenty to add diversity and perfect if matched with a second location which I love! If you already have an idea of your wedding theme or color palette, add them to your engagement session to tie it all together. Don't be afraid of lace, velvet, real or vegan leather to add texture to the photo and interest to the images.
  • Get a manicure or do your nails. Extra pampering is always good, but the reality is that your engagement session will be a hands-on experience, literally. Close-ups of sweet moments and your ring of course!
  • Trust and forget about the photographer. After the first few minutes of the photo session-where I share the little tips and do my "what to do with your hands" pitch, things are more comfortable and fun. Those are the feelings and moments that I am looking for! In case of doubt, kiss, hug, snuggle or stare into his/her eyes. Enjoy each moment; that is the key.
